The Humane Society of the Treasure Coast’s Public Spay/Neuter Program is the largest low-cost spay/neuter program on the Treasure Coast. Every year more than 1,700 dogs, cats, and rabbits are brought to our Shelter Clinic by responsible pet owners.
This procedure includes:
Additional fees may apply for cryptorchidic (undescended testicle) or umbilical hernia. Dogs and cats must be at least 2 months old and 2 lbs. for the procedure. Rabbits only receive spay/neuter surgical procedure and must be at least 4 months old and weigh 2 pounds (breed dependent).
HSTC also offers a Voucher Program that provides low cost spay/neuter vouchers to be used at a private veterinarian’s office. The voucher, which covers the costs of the surgery, microchip and registration, rabies vaccination, and nail clipping, can be used at a participating veterinarian in the area that have signed up with the HSTC program. Additional fees may apply at the veterinarian's office.
Vouchers can be purchased at our shelter in Palm City during our regular business hours. Click the button below to download the voucher application to be used at private veterinarian clinics. This application will need to be submitted to HSTC with payment, before a voucher is issued
For more information on the spay/neuter program, to schedule an appointment, or to learn more about the spay/neuter voucher system, please contact the shelter at 772-223-8822.
On behalf of Martin County, HSTC offers county pet licensing to all Martin County residents, regardless of whether they adopted from the shelter or not. In accordance with county low, pet owners have 30 days to register their pets with the county. All money from these transactions goes back to the County.
The fees are as follows:
|Not microchipped, not altered||$75|
|Altered, not michochipped||$25|
|Microchipped & Altered||$10|
If you have lost your pet, please visit our resources and read through “What to Do if You Lose a Pet”. Don’t wait to start your search and get the word out, and don’t give up! The Humane Society maintains a Lost and Found Registry to help reunite pets with their owners. We encourage anyone who has lost their pet to visit our shelter, daily. Also remember, if your animal is microchipped, we will be able to scan for the owner’s information if/when the animal is brought in!
We understand that there are circumstances in life that may lead you to feel it necessary to surrender a pet. Before committing to a surrender, we encourage you to call or visit the shelter and speak to a pet surrender counselor about the concerns of keeping your pet in your home. It’s our hope that we will be able to help remove these barriers and prevent the need for adoption. If you ultimately decide to surrender ownership of your pet, the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast accepts all animals and pets, regardless of species, breed, age, and health.
Speak to a pet surrender counselor by calling 772-220-3610 or visiting the Humane Society in person.
Beginning October 1, 2016 the owner surrender fees are as follows:
|Martin County Residents||Non-Martin County Residents|
|Single Pet Surrender $25||Single Pet Surrender $50|
|Multiple Pet Surrender $40||Multiple Pet Surrender $75|
