Once a Dolly’s Dream Dog; always a Dolly’s Dream Dog. After being adopted in September, Tank has returned to our care. His most recent adopter said he lived with 2 cats and played with several friendly dogs. He adores teenagers. Tank is a sweetie-pie. He is very neat in his kennel (may be house trained!) and is very food motivated. Since he originally arrived as a stray in July, we do not know much about his past. However, a neighbor who knew Tank before he came to the shelter did let us know that he is an absolute love bug, good with other dogs, and adores children of all ages. Tank is 5 years young and ready to find his fur-ever home!
Due to HSTC’s COVID-19 response, all adoptions are by appointment only. Please call 772-223-8822 to schedule you appointment today! Tank and all of her adoptable friends can be viewed online at hstc1.org/pet-search.
Princess has been in the care of HSTC since February and is ready to become the princess of your home! Her favorite activity is playing in water – especially the spray of a hose. She is a little bit of a diva and requires a dog meet with any potential doggie siblings. Princess would also prefer a home without cats or young children. She does not appear to be housetrained and will need a bit of help learning a few manners once she is in her new home. At only 2 years old, Princess has plenty of energy to spare!

Walk through the kennels of Humane Society of the Treasure Coast and many other larger animal shelters in Florida and around the nation and you’ll discover quite a few dogs we lovingly call “Square Heads.” Big, tall, short, small they have one thing in common – a head that looks a bit “square.” At first glance, some would call a dog like this a “Pit Bull” or a “bully breed”. But truthfully, these are simply the mixed breed dogs that are now one of the most popular and most beloved dogs in America!
Dolly’s Dream is a project to encourage the adoption of our “Square Heads” and to help counter the unfortunate stereotypes and myths that some people still believe about these dogs. Humane Society of the Treasure Coast finds homes and new families for hundreds of these dogs each year. They are adopted by a wide variety of people – single people, couples, grandparents and families with children of all ages.
"Dolly” (pictured here) was a Square Head who opened the heart of the man who adopted her and taught him how loving, sweet and gentle these dogs can be. No different than any other type of dog.
Today, in her honor, Dolly’s Dream is to give dogs like her a second chance at life and the type of home every dog deserves.
