It was the “purr-fect” event! A combination of cute cats and fine wines brought out a number of humane society supporters on a Friday evening in September.
They gathered for the Kitty Catalina Wine Mixer, which was canceled last year due to the pandemic. Held in the Palm City shelter’s Memorial Garden, the event raised nearly $2,000 to benefit the animals. In addition, two cats were adopted during the event.
Outdoors, guests sampled wine and light bites from these Florida-based wineries: Secret Gardens Winery & Farm in Sebring, Quantum Leap Winery in Orlando and San Sebastian Winery in St. Augustine.
Inside the shelter, supporters cuddled cats and kittens that were available for adoption. Cat adoption fees were waived during the event.
“This event gave supporters an opportunity to mix and mingle with friends and felines while enjoying samples of Florida wines,” said Courtney Zanetti, the humane society’s community outreach director. “Of course, the cats themselves were the main attraction.”
Additionally, guests were given an opportunity to win cat basket raffles while listening to live music.
Special thanks goes out to the event sponsors: O’Donnell Impact Windows & Storm Protection, Stuart Magazine and Publix.
