Giving Tuesday is a 24-hour giving event designed to raise awareness and money for charitable causes around the world. TODAY, this exciting, global event will celebrate the spirit of giving and the collective effort it takes to strengthen our organization to better serve those in need. Our goal this Giving Tuesday is to raise $20,000 in just 24 hours! These funds will support our Special Adoptions Fund to help HSTC provide the best care for senior and special needs pets.
We all shopped on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but will you also support homeless, senior and special needs pets on Giving Tuesday?
What are special needs pets?
Special needs pets are those who have permanent, but manageable, medical needs. These medical conditions are most often age-related, but not always. Common examples of special needs include: blindness, deafness, missing a limb, kidney disease, diabetes, or being FIV-positive, just to name a few. The important thing to know is that special needs pets are still able to live happy and relatively normal lives!
The HSTC animal care team works exceptionally hard to take care of these special pets and manage their medical conditions. As a result, sometimes these pets must stay in our care for a longer period than usual before they are ready for adoption. The Special Adoptions Fund at HSTC supports the higher-level care and medication required for special needs pets, and also funds their adoption fees throughout the year.
