One of our humane society's brightest young fosters, Brieanna Elmer, lost her fight against Rhabdomyosarcom (a rare type of cancer) on February 28, 2021. She was just 14 years old.
During her time as an HSTC foster volunteer, Brie fostered more than 30 cats from our shelter, while continuing her fostering efforts for a number of other animal welfare organizations too. Brie was a bright and passionate young woman who made a huge impact on our community by not only fostering, but also by helping to educate others and getting other people interested in animal welfare. She loved helping orphaned kittens, and when we had a difficult medical case in need of something special, we could always rely on Brieanna to step up and nurse them back to health. Brie's compassion knew no limits, and her willingness to fight and to care for others was infinite.
Our community has suffered a great loss in losing Brie, although we know that her legacy will continue. In honor of Brie's great contribution to the animal welfare community, our humane society hopes to purchase a kitten incubator in Brie's memory. Any and all donations to help make this memorial a reality are greatly appreciated.
